Turtle Bay Golf
Turtle Bay Golf sits on Oahu’s North Shore and is one of the few places where the game and the scenery really compete for your attention.
With two championship courses set between the ocean and open landscape, it’s the kind of place where the round ends up being as much about where you are as how you play.
The Courses
There are two courses here, and they feel noticeably different from each other.
The Palmer Course is the more demanding one. It runs through wetlands and closer to the coastline, and the wind can change things more than you expect. Some holes look straightforward until you factor that in.
The Fazio Course is a bit more relaxed. Still scenic, still well kept, but easier to enjoy without overthinking every shot. It’s usually the better choice if you’re just looking to play and take in the surroundings.
Either way, the setting does a lot of the work. There are stretches where you’re walking between holes and end up paying more attention to the ocean or the open land around you than the game itself.
What It Feels Like
This is not the kind of course where everything feels rushed.
Rounds tend to move at a steady pace, and there’s space to slow down a bit, especially if you’re playing earlier in the day or later in the afternoon.
Wind is something you’ll notice quickly. Some days it’s light, other days it changes how you approach almost every hole, which can make the experience more interesting, or a bit more frustrating, depending on how you see it.
Even if you’re not playing your best, it’s one of those places where it doesn’t really take away from the experience.
Facilities and Services
The setup around the courses is what you’d expect from a place like Turtle Bay, but without feeling overly formal.
The pro shop has everything you might need, including rental clubs if you’re traveling light. Instruction is also available, and it’s a good option if you want to ease into the game or adjust a few things.
After your round, Lei-Lei’s Bar & Grill is right there at the clubhouse. It’s an easy transition, sit down, eat, have a drink, and stay a bit longer than planned.
